A new decree published on September 5, 2025 modifies the schedule for the application of the " Certibiocide " certification for chiropodists/podiatrists.
Originally scheduled to come into effect soon, this obligation has now been postponed to July 1, 2027. ( See the official text on Légifrance)
This development is being driven by the National Order of Pedicurists-Podiatrists (ONPP).
Following discussions between the ONPP and the Ministry of Health, the biocide certification, in its initial version (a 7-hour continuing education course), is abandoned for the profession.
From now on, certification will be obtained through continuing education , in line with the existing periodic certification system . The topics covered are strictly limited to:
-
chemical risks ,
-
the use of biocidal disinfectant products ,
-
individual and collective protective measures .
A deadline set for July 1, 2027
Pedicurists/podiatrists must be able to justify this training to the Directorate General for Risk Prevention before July 1, 2027.
A supplementary decree, expected within six months, should specify the official list of recognized training courses .
Regarding professionals who have already completed 7 hours of training, the ONPP has contacted the ministry to ensure that no further additional training is required.
The ONPP is mobilized alongside the profession
While awaiting the official list, the ONPP is continuing its discussions with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Ecological Transition. The objective is to ensure that the following are taken into account:
-
teaching units already integrated into the State Diploma for Pedicurists-Podiatrists,
-
of the daily control of biocidal products by chiropodists/podiatrists in their professional practice.
For more details, you can consult the Official statement from the ONPP.
Practical tools already available
To support professionals immediately, the Continuous Improvement Committee for Quality and Safety of Care (CACQSS) , attached to the ONPP, has published two practical guides dedicated to biocides:
-
Fact sheet 16 : Chemical products and podiatry: How to assess the risks of biocides?
-
Fact sheet 17 : Chemical products and podiatry: How to control the risks of biocides?
These fact sheets can be viewed and downloaded directly from the ONPP website.
